You can check and update your personal details in My Student Admin.
Personal details
On this page: Updating your name, DOB or gender | Updating your preferred name or title | Updating your citizenship or residency | Updating your contact details | Accessibility and ongoing medical conditions | How we use your information | More questions
You can find a record of your personal details in My Student Admin in the ‘Personal’ tab. This includes your name, citizenship and residency details, current contact details, and any medical or accessibility information that you have shared with us.
It is important that you keep these details up
to date. It's
also important to ensure that your personal information at the
Australian Taxation Office
(ATO) and the Unique Student Identifier
(USI) Registry Office is the same as the information at CUA. This will avoid the
risk of having an unverified USI or TFN which will have an
impact on your graduation. Read more about ensuring that your USI can be
verified.
Updating your name, DOB or gender
You can check your name, DOB or gender in the ‘Name Details‘ section of the ‘Personal‘ tab in If you need to make any updates, you can submit our online form.
You will need to provide certified supporting documents to make changes or corrections. The documents must also be valid and current. This means an authorised officer must view your original document, and then certify a copy as a true copy of your original document. We accept documents that have been certified at the CUA Student Centre in Building 10. Read more about Providing certified documents to CUA.
Your formal name at CUA should reflect your full legal name. This means that your full legal name will be displayed on your graduation documents. You are also able to nominate a preferred name which can be used throughout your studies, but will not appear on your documents.
If you have already graduated, or if you are a graduating student and you submit a request to change your name after the deadline, fees may apply to reissue your graduation documents with the new name.
Updating your name
Correcting your name
If the name you originally provided to CUA needs to be corrected, please provide a certified copy of ONE of the following documents which reflects your correct name:
-
Passport, or
-
Birth Certificate (issued by the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages), or
-
Australian Driver’s Licence or Photo ID card
When you submit the form, you can select the reason as Correction or Addition.
If you aren’t sure what documents to provide, or you have questions about how your name should be entered, you can contact Ask CUA and let us know your situation, so we can advise you on what to submit.
Note: If your name and name order is already correct, but you need to move names from your First Given Name to the Other Given Name(s) field (or vice versa), your supporting documents do not need to be certified.

Your name at CUA should be your
full legal name. We are not able to remove parts
of your name unless it’s reflected in your
documents.
If your identity documents display
your name as a single name, this should be
entered in the ‘Family Name’ field in My Student
Admin.
If your name contains special
characters, or you aren't sure how to enter your
names, you can read more on our USI page about
How to check the machine
readable zone on your
passport and Name order for International
Students.

The Driver’s Licence is the evidence of the new name
that you would like to update, and the Marriage
Certificate demonstrates the link between the
current name and the new
name.
If you have changed your name a
number of times, you will need to provide
additional documents to demonstrate a clear link
between your current name at CUA, and the name
you want to change to.

If you are under 18 years of age, you must have written approval from your guardian to change their residential address. Contact CUA International for more information.
Information for graduates and past students
If you are a graduate or past student, you can notify CUA of changes to your address and other contact details by submitting an online enquiry via AskCUA.
To register with CUA Alumni or to update your contact details, complete the online registration.
Accessibility and ongoing medical conditions
If you are living with one or more disabilities, medical or mental health conditions that may affect your studies, you can let CUA know in the 'Accessibility details' section of the ‘Personal’ tab in My Student Admin.
You aren’t required to disclose anything to CUA, but if you do, it allows us to maintain accurate information that supports government reporting on the number of students with a disability across universities.
You may also choose to register for assistance from the CUA Accessibility Service for support in managing your studies.
How we use your information
We will use your student email address as the primary form of communication regarding your studies. If you choose to set up a forwarding email account, it is your responsibility to ensure that the account is set up correctly.
Many students choose to provide an external email address or a mobile phone number. We may use these as a secondary form of communication. However, it isn’t always possible for us to contact you by phone or personal email, even if you have provided them in My Student Admin. All official communications will be sent to your CUA student email address.
Your name and date of birth will be verified against the Unique Student Identifier (USI) Registry. If you are receiving any form of Commonwealth assistance, they will also be verified against the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). It is therefore important that you let us know if your name changes, or if your date of birth is incorrect. You can read more about this under Updating your name.
You can read more about Privacy and Confidentiality and your privacy at CUA.
